The Ski8000 Expedition 2004 team consists of two highly experienced ski mountaineers and a professional support team. Besides their exceptional skiing and climbing skills the team members bring in many different skills and experiences that contribute to the success of this expedition (management, studies, research, travelling, professional sports, voluntary work, etc).

Joost Schreve (29) is a highly experienced climber and skier. In 2003 he climbed Mera Peak (6462) in Nepal and made an unique and spectacular ski descent from the summit. Joost has been climbing since he was 14 years old [more...]


Greg Nieuwenhuys (24) is ski expert and experienced climber. In 2003 he participated in a ski expedition to Nepal where he reached the summit of Island Peak (6189 m). At only seventeen years old, Greg climbed Mont Blanc [more...]


Herman Frima (29) supports the team as medical doctor. Herman is specialised in tropical medicine and has extended experience in several parts of the world including Papua New Guinee [more...]


Pemba Chiri Sherpa is Cho Oyu expert: he summitted 4 (!) times. He also climbed the world's highest mountain, Mount Everest and summited many other Himalayan peaks, including Mera Peak, Island Peak and Labuche Peak.


Pasang Nuru Sherpa brings to the team an extensive experience in high altitude mountaineering. He climbed the difficult Lhotse (8516 m) and also joined two Everest expeditions as a climbing Sherpa.


Ang Pemba Sherpa joins the team as a cameraman. Ang Pemba is an exponent of the coming generation of young Sherpas that have strong technical climbing skills. Ang Pemba was a team member of the Mera Peak Ski Expedition 2003.


Ngima Dorji Sherpa (31) manages the Sherpa team. Ngima has 17 years experience as porter, sherpa and expedition leader. He runs his own trekking agency, Nepal Myths & Mountain Trails. [more...]
