The climb to Fugro camp 2 at 7080 m was extremely strenuous. It took the team 7 hours to reach the camp. The ongoing process of acclimatization doesn't come easy. Look at this videofragment, in which the Herman, Greg and Joost tell about their feelings while climbing up.
Greg, Joost and Ang Pemba spent the night in the camp at 7080 m. Apart from subzero temperatures (-22 degrees in the tent!), low air pressure (423 hPa) and resulting altitude issues (slight headaches, lack of appetite, breatheless awakenings, etc) the night went relatively easy.
The next morning the first skitracks were printed above 7000 m on the Cho Oyu. What a fantastic feeling!
Greg, Joost and Ang Pemba are now back in Basecamp after a quick descent. Pemba and Pasang will spend another night on the mountain, attempting to reach Vicks camp 3 at about 7400 m. However, it's snowing heavily at the moment. Bad weather may delay the progress towards the summit.
