The preparation phase is complete! On April 19 Joost, Greg and the Sherpa team will attempt to climb to the summit of Cho Oyu at 8201 m and to descend on skis to camp 1.
The program for the summit attempt is as follows:
- Fri 16: Climb from basecamp to OC&C Strategy Consultants Camp 1 (6425 m)
- Sat 17: Climb to Fugro Camp 2 (7080 m)
- Sun 18: Climb to ca 7500 m, where we'll pitch Vicks Camp 3
- Mon 19: Climb to summit of Cho Oyu (8201 m) followed by SKI descent to camp 1 (6400 m)
Naturally, the program is subject to weather conditions. Strong winds, snowfall, etc could delay the program.
Herman will stay in basecamp to monitor our progress and health. We'll keep frequent radio contact. He will keep you up to date via updates on this site!
