After a tough night with a lot of snow and a very hard wind Joost, Greg and the Sherpa's left for Vicks camp 3 at 10.00hr. Almost all morning I was able to follow them with my binoculars. Early in the afternoon clouds started covering the mountain now and then.
At 14.00hr the team arrived at Vicks camp 3. They were very happy to reach this camp at an altitude of 7450 m. It had been a very heavy climb. This afternoon they will drink a lot, try to eat a bit and have a rest. After dinner tonight they will try to sleep very early as they plan to get up around 03.00hr and leave at 04.00hr for the summit. This afternoon the Sherpa's will prepare some fixed ropes to make the climb during the night easier. When the team arrived at Vicks camp 3 I had the following radio talk with Joost and Greg. Any new information will be put on the website as soon as possible. Herman |
