At 0.30hr the team wakes up at Vicks camp 3, 7450 m. Everybody starts melting snow for drinks and breakfast. At 02.00hr Greg and Joost are ready to leave. There is one problem. The sky is clear but there blows an incredible hard wind. It is even dangerous to get out of the tent. Being blown away may place you in several crevasses.
Together with the Sherpa's they decide to stay in the tent and to wait untill the wind weakens. Unfortunately the wind blows all night making a summit attempt dangerous and impossible. Luckily there is enough food and gas at Vicks camp 3 so the team will stay there another night to have new shot at the summit tomorrow. Today I had several radio talks with the team up the mountain giving an impression of their decisions. Tomorrow more updates will follow. Herman |
