After a day rest in base camp, we started packing to finally leave. The low levels of oxygen and the cold have been enough, and the entire team is very, very happy to leave base camp. First a three hour walk, then a two day jeep drive.

Arriving in the Summit Hotel feels like arriving home, we are enjoying life so much at the moment. Little things you always take for granted are the biggest pleasure ever! It seems like such an expedition intensifies all your senses...

This morning we had a meeting with Elizabeth Hawley, the conscious of the Himalayas. She checks all summit records and keeps hold of the statistics. This morning we met her and the first Dutch ski descent of an 8000 meter peak became official! Tonight we are having a party at the summit Hotel, any Dutch in Kathmandu please feel free to join! Drinks till late in the night....!

If as we have not challenged ourselves enough the last months, tomorrow morning we have a 07:00 hrs flight to Lukla (and a party tonight!), followed by a six hour walk to Kharikola.

With the success of the expedition, 8201 euros will be donated to the Mera Primary School in Kharikola. The purpose of our visit is to speak with the responsible people of the school and determine what we can do with the money. We will define several projects that can be financed with the money of the expedition. When we get back, we will let you know what the outcome is. We would also like to thank all of you who have ordered a postcard. You have helped us raise the 8201 euros for education of Sherpa children in Nepal!

We will be arriving at Schiphol on the 11th of March at 10:30 am. We will keep you posted in the mean time!
